One of my clients had a similar problem yesterday with an HP printer.
They had a large print file printing, and decided to turn the printer off and on to clear the buffer and essentially cancel the print job.
Downside: the printer network configuration was corrupted and the ip address was changed to 192.0.0.192

The printers.conf file defines the local printers that are available. It is normally located in the /etc/cups directory and is generated
