Hi, I'm using awk to try and get a moving average for the second column of numbers ($2) in the below example broken out by unique identifier in column 1 ($1) :
My expected output is:
The window for the moving average is 5, except for the first 2 row numbers and the last two row numbers for each unique identifier where the window will be 3 and 4.
I have tried modifying the below code. The first problem i'm having is setting up an associative array e.g. n[$1]=$2. The second problem is the changing window for the moving average. Any help would be appreciated
Hi,
I have the data like this

i want to compute average of $1 and $2 every 5th line (1-5 and 6-10)

Hello,
Let's assume I have 100 files FILE_${m} (0<m<101). Each of them contains 100 lines and 10 columns.
I'd like to get in a file called "result" the average value of column 3, ONLY between lines 11 and 17, in order to plot that average as a function of the parameter m.
So far I can compute... (6 Replies)
I want to calculate the average line by line of some files with several lines on them, the files are identical, just want to average the 3rd columns of those files.:wall:
Example file:

For the data
I would like to parse down and for each parsing
I want a cumulative averaging, stored in an array
that can be output.
I.e.
546/NR = 546
(546+344)/NR=(546+344)/2 = etc.
For N record input I want N values of the average (a block
averaging effectively)

In the below awk I am trying to combine all matching $4 into a single $5 (up to the -), and count the lines in $6 and average all values in $7. The awk is close but it seems to only be using the last line in the file and skipping all others. The posted input is a sample of the file that is over... (3 Replies)
Hi forum members,
I'm trying to get an average of multiple columns in a csv file using awk. A small example of my input data is as follows:

locale::codes::langvar
Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm) Perl Programmers Reference Guide Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm)NAME
Locale::Codes::LangVar - standard codes for language variation identification
SYNOPSIS
use Locale::Codes::LangVar;
$lvar = code2langvar('acm'); # $lvar gets 'Mesopotamian Arabic'
$code = langvar2code('Mesopotamian Arabic'); # $code gets 'acm'
@codes = all_langvar_codes();
@names = all_langvar_names();
DESCRIPTION
The "Locale::Codes::LangVar" module provides access to standard codes used for identifying language variations, such as those as defined in
the IANA language registry.
Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default IANA language
registry codes will be used.
SUPPORTED CODE SETS
There are several different code sets you can use for identifying language variations. A code set may be specified using either a name, or
a constant that is automatically exported by this module.
For example, the two are equivalent:
$lvar = code2langvar('en','alpha-2');
$lvar = code2langvar('en',LOCALE_CODE_ALPHA_2);
The codesets currently supported are:
alpha
This is the set of alphanumeric codes from the IANA language registry, such as 'arevela' for Eastern Armenian.
This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_LANGVAR_ALPHA".
This is the default code set.
ROUTINES

Locale::Codes::LangVar::add_langvar_code_alias ( CODE ,NEW_CODE [,CODESET] )

These routines are all documented in the Locale::Codes::API man page.
