Is any data stored on raw logical volumes? e.g. passed to a database etc.
What tape drive do you have, and what capacity media?
What type of DVD drive do you have?
Do you have the correct DVD media?
Where does the backup fail? Can you show us the messages?
If you are using mysysb, do you exclude anything from the backup?
What general backups do you have in place for your business application/data?

Hi,
I've a HP-UX 10x running on HP9000 box and also I have 3 scsi hdd(9Gb),
one of them is working. I need to check the other 2 hdd physically.
Is there an utility to check them from unix or another way to do it?

This is the password aging script for aix just completed. So far tested and still testing on one of our aix server running 5.3.0.0. DESCRIPTION
f1tattoo is the linux console tool to use the Yamaha disc T@2 feature. You won't get satisfying results on Phtalocyanin dye.
FEATURES
You can disc T@2 with these drives:
Yamaha F1 CD-RW, Yamaha F1DX
DEVICE
can be an IDE, SCSI, SATA, USB or FireWire connected optical drive. Not all SATA controller support all Plextor features.
Linux:
/dev/hdX: IDE device
/dev/scdX: Linux 2.4: SATA, SCSI, USB device, or IDE device via ide-scsi emulation
/dev/srX: Linux 2.6: IDE device via new ATA layer, SCSI or USB device
OpenBSD/NetBSD:

/dev/cd: SCSI device
