Hi I have a shell script I would like to run it has to run twice a day every 5 seconds for an hour I can do this with cron but I was hoping there was an easier way. mysqli::ping - Pings a server connection, or tries to reconnect if the connection has gone down

Procedural style bool mysqli_ping (mysqli $link) Checks whether the connection to the server is working. If it has gone down, and global option mysqli.reconnect is enabled an automatic reconnection is attempted.
