Here is the code which worked:
Code:
# -- an example--
export GEM5_DIR=/usr/local/gem5
export BENCHMARK=./src/benchmark
#export ARGUMENT=./data/input.program

l1="32kB 64kB 128kB";
l2="512kB 1MB 3MB";
l1_assoc="2 4";
l2_assoc="4 8 12"
for l1_size in $l1
        do
        echo "Current L1_size: $l1_size"
        echo "--------------------------"
        for l1_assc in $l1_assoc
                do
                echo "Current L1_associativity: $l1_assc"
                echo "-----------------------------------"
                for l2_size in $l2
                        do
                        echo "Current L2_size: $l2_size"
                        echo "--------------------------"

                                do

                                echo "Starting our Project"
                                now=$(date +"%T")
                                echo "Starting simulation at $now"
                                mkdir ~/6304/429.mcf/m5out/$l1_size"_L1_"$l1_assc"_L1_assoc_"$l2_size"_L2size_"$l2_assc"_L2_assoc";

                                done
                        done
                done
        done

This created folders with simulation for all those different combinations mentioned. But the difference may have been in the OS:
Code:
