Why in the world do you use a tilde to introduce a command line option? Use a dash! And, read the man page on tilde escapes.

I am a newbie currently trying to execute shell commands from ruby instead of a shell script.(This method is conceived only for solaris so no issues with porting to other OS and all)

Hi ,
I have modified .profile and after that i ran it as .profile. Now no command i working even ls is not working
When i type ls , it is showing that -ksh not found
I tried to run as . $home/.profile , it is saying as permission denied .
How can we do that .. any idea..

I have an application where if it runs indivisually could able to execute commands (like system("ls")) and could able to execute tcl script.

I am using SED to edit a file (called file)
the file contains the word "ERROR"
and I want to use SED to:
1. Search for text "ERROR"

2. Append new line with text "hoi"

NAME
Lire::Test::CommandResult - Object used to report the results of shell commands
SYNOPSIS
use Lire::Test::FunctionalTestCase;
my $result = $self->lire_run( "echo Test" );
print $result->status();
print $result->stdout();
print $result->stderr();
print scalar $result->sent_mail(), " emails were sent.

DESCRIPTION
Lire::Test::ComandResult objects are used to report the results of shell commands run through Lire::Test::FunctionalTestCase::lire_run().
command()
Returns the shell command that was run. This is the complete command line which was interpreated by the shell.
status()
Returns the command result status. (What is usually contained in $?).
stdout()
Returns what was output on stdout while executing the command.
stderr()
Returns what was output on stderr while executing the command.
sent_mail()
Returns in an array reference the message that were sent out during this command run. The element of this array are hash reference
containing two keys:
recipients
An array reference containing the recipients as passed on the command line to sendmail.
message
The email which was sent. This is the complete text of the email. This is what was passed to sendmail via STDIN.
