Top Forums UNIX for Beginners Questions & Answers How to check who run the command? Post 302993045 by rbatte1 on Monday 6th of March 2017 07:42:50 AM

Well, it's a bit open ended and the answer is "It depends."

Firstly, what OS and version are you using? The output from uname -a would be very useful here.

What sort of thing are you looking for?
  • If you are looking for use of sudo then that should be picked up by syslog (or rsyslog)
  • If you want to know who logged on and from where, that depends on the OS
  • If you want to know who edited or deleted a file, it depends on who could edit or delete the file and if they had to get any elevated privileges to do so.
  • etc.
  • etc.
You need to be much more specific and then we can ask questions of what you might have set up that we can help you use.

Can you elaborate a little? A bit of history and context would be useful here.

Kind regards,
Robin
