I'm trying to learn the find command and thought I was understanding it... Apparently I was wrong. I was doing compound searches and I started getting weird results with the -size test. I was trying to do a search on a 1G file owned by the user database. I was expecting to get a single file back, but for some reason the find returns not only the 1G file but the scripting files owned by the database user. I've been messing with this for a while trying to understand it. I can filter it out by using a -not -name ".*" but that's not the point. I want to understand why it's including the start up scripts & what I'm doing wrong. Here's the command and the results... If someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Ok. I have now found that:
find -x -ls
will do what I need as far as finding all files on a particular volume. Now I need to sort the results by the file's modification date/time.
Is there a way to do that?
Also, I notice that for many files, whereas the man for find says ls is... (8 Replies)
I am looking for files of a certian type and logging them. After they are logged they need to be moved to a different directory. HOw can i incorporate that in my current script?

DROP_OWNED - remove database objects owned by a database role
SYNOPSIS
DROP OWNED BY name [, ...] [ CASCADE | RESTRICT ]
DESCRIPTION
DROP OWNED drops all the objects within the current database that are owned by one of the specified roles. Any privileges granted to the
given roles on objects in the current database and on shared objects (databases, tablespaces) will also be revoked.
PARAMETERS
name
The name of a role whose objects will be dropped, and whose privileges will be revoked.
CASCADE
Automatically drop objects that depend on the affected objects.
RESTRICT
Refuse to drop the objects owned by a role if any other database objects depend on one of the affected objects. This is the default.
NOTES
DROP OWNED is often used to prepare for the removal of one or more roles. Because DROP OWNED only affects the objects in the current
database, it is usually necessary to execute this command in each database that contains objects owned by a role that is to be removed.
Using the CASCADE option might make the command recurse to objects owned by other users.
The REASSIGN OWNED (REASSIGN_OWNED(7)) command is an alternative that reassigns the ownership of all the database objects owned by one or
more roles.
Databases and tablespaces owned by the role(s) will not be removed.
COMPATIBILITY
The DROP OWNED statement is a PostgreSQL extension.
