I am confused how is possible to find the physical cores and cpu installed on a Centos 5.5 machine.
I tried several commands with different answers (below are reported the command tried and the answers).
Can you help me to find the total phisical core and cpu per core?

1. I tried the dmidecode -t processor but the answer is
2. I insert the command [code]more /proc/cpuinfo[/icode] and the answer is
3. I insert cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep processor | wc -l and the anwer is
8
4. I insert cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep cpu | wc -l and the anwer is
32

how would I list the high end of CPU utilization for the previous hours of the day. I don't need to know the averages. I'm wanting to know the high and low, etc. for what ever time interval that is avaliable?

I wrote a very simple script that matches combinations of alphabetic characters (1-5). I want to use it to test CPU speeds of different hardware/platforms.
