Please tell us what you did to resolv.conf
Did you delete the old DNS server entry completely?
Or did you add the new DNS server to the bottom of the file leaving the old DNS entry above it?
(I'm not a RedHat expert but just asking this question at a generic level.)

hey guys, how to add soalris box as a microsoft DNS Client ?
and how to register in the microsoft DNS ??
i managed to query from the DNS server after adding /etc/resolve.conf and editing /etc/nsswitch.conf

I have a dns server (bind) with 2 zones forward and reverse and i need to resolve one ip completely different. I have add to /etc/hosts and i can ping but i can't do nslookup. DESCRIPTION
The Net::DNS::Mailbox module implements a subclass of DNS domain name objects representing the DNS coded form of RFC822 mailbox address.
METHODS

$mailbox = new Net::DNS::Mailbox('John.Doe@example.com');
$mailbox = new Net::DNS::Mailbox('John Doe <j.doe@example.com>');
Creates a mailbox object which represents the DNS domain encoded form of the mail address specified by the character string argument.
The argument string consists of printable characters from the 7-bit ASCII repertoire.

Returns a character string corresponding to the RFC822 form of mailbox address of the domain as described in RFC1035 section 8.
