rpc.nisd_resolv - DNS service daemon for NIS SYNOPSIS

is an auxiliary process which provides DNS forwarding service for NIS hosts requests. The process is started by (NIS server) when invoked with the option. It requires the file to be set up for communication with a DNS nameserver. The utility can be used to verify communica- tion with a DNS nameserver. See resolv.conf(4) and nslookup(1).
