Confirmed, Solaris 8 runs fine. But my favourite is Solaris 9 (but I never tried it on Ultra-5).
Solaris 8 and 9 take 1-2 GB more disk space because of 64bit, and providing 32bit compatibility.
Solaris 9 comes with lots of convenient addons: sshd, logadm, -h option for ls/df/du ...

it seem hard to see on a regular monitor the ultra 10 converter to rgb so that it can go to a pc monitor.

Hi all,
I managed to salvage form work an old Sun Sparc Ultra 30. I have had it stored (controlled storage) for a few years and decided to get it home and boot it up.
It starts up with a beep then I can hear disks spinning up, CDROM moving but nothing is displayed on the monitor.

SYNOPSIS
To compile this driver into the kernel, place the following lines in your kernel configuration file:
device scbus
device trm
Alternatively, to load the driver as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5):
trm_load="YES"
DESCRIPTION
The trm driver supports PCI SCSI host adapters based on the Tekram TRM-S1040 SCSI ASIC.
HARDWARE
SCSI controllers supported by the trm driver include:
o Tekram DC-315 PCI Ultra SCSI adapter without BIOS and internal SCSI connector
o Tekram DC-315U PCI Ultra SCSI adapter without BIOS
o Tekram DC-395F PCI Ultra-Wide SCSI adapter with flash BIOS and 68-pin external SCSI connector
o Tekram DC-395U PCI Ultra SCSI adapter with flash BIOS
o Tekram DC-395UW PCI Ultra-Wide SCSI adapter with flash BIOS
