I am working on a script where we are using sqlplus command to connect to Oracle DB. But the schemaname and password used for sqlplus authentication, have to be hardcoded in the script.
Here any user who reads the script can read the password of Oracle DB schema . Is there any way (apart from Oracle Wallet) we can hide the password from this script?
I tried creating a separate file having DBconnection variable defined inside it but its of no use as the user can source that file and read the variable's value.
We currently take files (via FTP) off of a mainframe and save them as a text file on our server. This is done via a script. The next thing that is done to that text file is it gets zipped (using ZIP). This all works fine, but it doesn't appear that ZIP (the free version) has any way to password... (2 Replies)
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this or not but we use a program called "Password Safe" to store the many root passwords we have for our Unix system.
Now we are being called out by our security team to prove that this is a safe program to use. So far I have been able to determine... (1 Reply)
Hi,
I have usernames and passwords (to connect oracle DB) buried in so many shell scripts.
We want to externalize all usernames and passwords from those shell scripts and encrypt them and keep them in a file.
So far I found two choices,
1) Use some encryption algorithms like (RC5/MD5) to... (5 Replies)

Apache::Session::Store::Oracle - Store persistent data in a Oracle database
SYNOPSIS
use Apache::Session::Store::Oracle;
my $store = new Apache::Session::Store::Oracle;
$store->insert($ref);
$store->update($ref);
$store->materialize($ref);
$store->remove($ref);
DESCRIPTION
Apache::Session::Store::Oracle fulfills the storage interface of Apache::Session. Session data is stored in a Oracle database.
SCHEMA
To use this module, you will need at least these columns in a table called 'sessions':
id varchar2(32) # or however long your session IDs are.
a_session long
To create this schema, you can execute this command using the sqlplus program:
CREATE TABLE sessions (
id varchar2(32) not null primary key,
a_session long
);
If you use some other command, ensure that there is a unique index on the table's id column.
CONFIGURATION
The module must know what datasource, username, and password to use when connecting to the database. These values can be set using the
options hash (see Apache::Session documentation). The options are DataSource, UserName, and Password.
Example:
tie %hash, 'Apache::Session::Oracle', $id, {
DataSource => 'dbi:Oracle:database',
UserName => 'database_user',
Password => 'K00l'
};
Instead, you may pass in an already-opened DBI handle to your database.
tie %hash, 'Apache::Session::Oracle', $id, {
Handle => $dbh
};
The last option is LongReadLen, which specifies the maximum size of the session object. If not supplied, the default maximum size is 8 KB.
