If your sed doesn't remove carriage-returns with sed 's/\r$//' "$csv", try changing:

csv=${1:-"/home/my/test.csv"}

early in your script to:
Code:
csv=${1:-"/home/my/test.csv"}
tr -d '\r' < "$csv" > "$csv.$$"
csv="$csv.$$"

and add:
Code:
rm -f "$csv"

to the end of your script. Or, if you don't need to keep the input file in DOS format, just change:

csv=${1:-"/home/my/test.csv"}

to:
Code:
csv=${1:-"/home/my/test.csv"}
tr -d '\r' < "$csv" > "$csv.$$" && cp "$csv.$$" "$csv" && rm "$csv.$$" || exit 1

Decimal value for special character

I am seeing an special character in my file when i do the cat filename | od-bc I see a value of 376 for that special character. I would like to find the decimal value for the character. For example the decimal value for ctrl-Y is char(25). Appreciate help on this. (11 Replies)

NAME

       processcsv.py - process virt-top CSV files

SUMMARY

	virt-top --csv data.csv
	processcsv.py < data.csv

DESCRIPTION

       virt-top is a top(1)-like utility for showing stats of virtualized domains.

       processcsv.py is a simple Python script that post-processes the output of "virt-top --csv".

       It is used like this:

	virt-top --csv data.csv
	processcsv.py < data.csv

       The second command will overwrite the following files in the current directory:

       "global.csv"
	   This contains the global (host) statistics columns from the CSV file.

       "domainNN.csv" (multiple files)
	   For each libvirt domain ID NN, a file is created containing the per-domain statistics from the CSV file.
