After reading that article, found that I need to update to

Solaris 10 8/11 ("U10")

I have got the Oracle Solaris 10 8/11 Information Library and the Oracle Solaris 10 8/11 Installation Guide: Live Upgrade and Upgrade Planning

Will continue working from here.

One question:

There is Veritas Volume Manager 5.1 installed to manage the SAP volumes. I was provided a license key to install. What is the best approach to update the Solaris OS:

1. Update Veritas first
2. Update Solaris OS, carefully following the VxVM special steps

I have Solaris-10 sparc box with ZFS file-system, which is running two non global zones. I am in process of applying Solaris Recommended patch cluster via Live Upgrade. suninstall - install the Solaris operating system SYNOPSIS
suninstall DESCRIPTION
install-solaris(1M) is now the preferred command for starting and restarting the Solaris Installation program. It should be used instead of suninstall. suninstall is symbolically linked to install-solaris. suninstall is a forms-based and graphical subsystem for installing the operating system. suninstall exists only on the Solaris installation media (CD or DVD) and should only be invoked from there. Refer to the Solaris 10 Instal- lation Guide: Basic Installations for more details. suninstall allows installation of the operating system onto any standalone system. suninstall loads the software available on the installa- tion media.
