So it seems that your OBP version should be okay for booting from USB.
(Apologies for the confusion over V4.27 vs V4.72, I must have remembered it wrongly).
So you have downloaded the Solaris 11.2 USB text install file.
How did you create your USB stick from it?? Needs to be created using dd or usbcopy.

ok so i have recently aquired an old Apple network server 700, its running AIX 4.1.4, i have virtually no experience in unix, it come up with

when i try to Install Solaris 8 from its CD...i pressed STOP + A and i get a OK prompt screen.
