I seem to remember that there's an order sensitivity in tar's "-C" option, leading me to avoid using it.

display Specifies a pointer to the Display structure; returned from XOpenDisplay(). sl Specifies a pointer to a sensitivity label to be used as the session low label. DESCRIPTION
The XTSOLsetSessionLO() function sets the session low sensitivity label. After the session low label has been set by a Trusted Extensions window system TCB component, logintool, X server will reject a connection request from a client running at a lower sensitivity label than the session low label. The client must have the PRIV_WIN_CONFIG privilege. RETURN VALUES
