My bad..I altered it and the cmd did work like beauty. But it is messing up the inundation of the final output. Means when I view this in html page the format is gone
Each record has to be preserved by not going in next line. I did use --width=100 so as to accommodate each record in it's position, but in vain.
Is there a way to preserve the layout ? Hope I am not asking much...!

Situation : 2 textfiles, file.in , file.out
In the first textfile which is called file.in are the words for the substitution.

Simple question - I am trying to use sed to replace two different strings. As it stands I can implement this as:
sed -i 's/TIMEOUT//g'
sed -i 's/null//g'
And it works. However, is it possible to shrink that down into a single command? Will there be any performance benefits? (3 Replies)

DESCRIPTION
Igawk is a simple shell script that adds the ability to have ``include files'' to gawk(1).
AWK programs for igawk are the same as for gawk, except that, in addition, you may have lines like
@include getopt.awk
in your program to include the file getopt.awk from either the current directory or one of the other directories in the search path.
OPTIONS
See gawk(1) for a full description of the AWK language and the options that gawk supports.
