Here is my work desktop: X-Server, Motif Window Manager and a bunch of xterms. I use a strict colour code for my windows: the light blue windows in the background are two cluster nodes i configure, the thistle window in the foreground is a window where i am root, the petrol window on the right is an editor-session where i am a normal user. Some xterms are minimised.
It is so nice to find a site where you can actually get answers to Unix questions - I've found most of my answers just my searching - but was amazed at the fast response to the nightmare file questions. Thank you again! (1 Reply)
Hi,
Here is the issue. From the program snippet I have Base: 0x1800000000, Size: 0x3FFE7FFFFFFFF which are of 40 and 56 bits. SO I used use bignum to do the math but summing them up I always failed having correct result.

Syntax
XReparentWindow(display, w, parent, x, y)

Arguments
display Specifies the connection to the X server.
parent Specifies the parent window.
w Specifies the window.
x
y Specify the x and y coordinatesof the position in the new parent window.
Description
If the specified window is mapped, automatically performs an request on it, removes it from its current position in the hierarchy, and
inserts it as the child of the specified parent. The window is placed in the stacking order on top with respect to sibling windows.
After reparenting the specified window, causes the X server to generate a event. The override_redirect member returned in this event is
set to the window's corresponding attribute. Window manager clients usually should ignore this window if this member is set to Finally, if
the specified window was originally mapped, the X server automatically performs a request on it.
The X server performs normal exposure processing on formerly obscured windows. The X server might not generate events for regions from the
initial request that are immediately obscured by the final request. A error results if:
