I do not know what you mean by "IBM Virtual Machine" - this is no software product i know. AIX only runs on pSeries hardware, therefore - whatever IBM Virtual Machine might be - the answer is indeed no.

does anyone know of the equivalent of "ptree <PID>" command which can be used on IBM (AIX) machine. I was trying to use "ptref" but it produces too many lines of "unrelated " to the PID output.

DESCRIPTION
jsvc executes classfile that implements a Daemon interface.
OPTIONS
-jvm JVM name
use a specific Java Virtual Machine.
-client client JVM

-cp/ -classpath directory and zip/jar files
set search path for service classes and resouces
-java-home directory
