I have a Java program. I want to measure the total memory used by the program, especially the peak memory. Is there a way to do it?
I have tried utilities like time (which returns 0) and top (which is not very useful) as the program does not run for long.

I was running a program and it stopped and showed "Out of Memory!". at that time, the RAM used by this process is around 4G and the free memory size of the machine is around 30G. This class is the base for Test::Valgrind parsers. METHODS
"new" The parser constructor, called without arguments. Defaults to "new" in Test::Valgrind::Component. "start $session" Called when the $session starts. Defaults to set "started" in Test::Valgrind::Component. "args $session, $fh" Returns the list of parser-specific arguments that are to be passed to the "valgrind" process spawned by the session $session and whose output will be captured by the filehandle $fh. Defaults to the empty list. "parse $session, $fh" Parse the output of the "valgrind" process attached to the session $session received through the filehandle $fh.
