Hi Guys,
I am new on the scripting world and would like ask for help if you can.
Here are my questions below.
1) What Unix commmand(s) would you put in a shell script to read an ASCII comma-delimited input file and validate that field 5 only contains numeric characters?
2) What Unix command(s) would you use from the command line to find all files underneath a given path that have duplicate lines of data?
2. Relevant commands, code, scripts, algorithms:
Perl, awk, cut, uniq
3. The attempts at a solution (include all code and scripts):
Tried this command to tell you honestly I am not sure if this is the right command.
1. sed -e 's/^/| /' -e 's/,/,| /g' -e 's/$/,|/' inputfile | column -t -s,
2 . find . -type f -name '*f*' | sed -r 's|/[^/]+$||' |sort |uniq
4. Complete Name of School (University), City (State), Country, Name of Professor, and Course Number (Link to Course):
This is a work related question some how like a personal research. I was inform by Don Cragun to go here

I have a comma delimited file that sometimes has addresses details in. The problem is that the address detail can be seen as:
"Sample House, Sample Road". When I run a script specifying the file is comma delimited I would like it to ignore comma's that are in between speech marks.

I have a flat file whose contents are comma delimited and there are 84 columns in total, so everytime I try to view the contents, things get over lapped it becomes diffcult to read through the result set.

Question about how to change the first & last name in column one & two so that the names have a capital letter for just the first letter. Example:

lmfsetup(8) System Manager's Manual lmfsetup(8) Name lmfsetup - License Management Facility PAK registration script Syntax /etc/lmfsetup [ template ] Description The script allows you to register data supplied by a Product Authorization Key (PAK). The script prompts you for the data associated with each of the fields on a PAK. When all the data has been entered, the License Management Facility (LMF) ensures there are entries against all the mandatory fields, and that the Checksum validates all the license data. If the data has been entered correctly, the PAK is regis- tered in the License Database. If the data has been entered incorrectly, the appropriate error message is displayed and you are given the opportunity to re-enter the data. The template option allows you to register license data from templates in A template containing a partially complete PAK is created by some products as part of their installation process. The script only prompts you for data on the fields that are empty in the template. If the script cannot find the specified template in it searches the current directory. The script is provided as an alternative to the command. This displays a template, which includes the fields on the PAK, and invokes an editor so that you can add the license data to the appropriate field.
