Please note that there's no "unstable spaces". The format is very predictable as the 2 spaces after Oct are
- the separator
- the space padded day-of-month output of date.
To avoid the space padding use another format string, e.g.
as opposed to the default

With the -q flag or a numeric argument, date sets the GMT time and date. MMDDYY refers to the month, day, and year; hhmmss refers to the
