How can I eliminate the blank lines from a file.
For e.g.
File1 contains
ABCD
EFGH
ZZZZ
HJHH
KJKJ
IUYU
I need the file to be as follows....
ABCD
EFGH (4 Replies)
I have a file abc:
line 1
line 2
line 3
line 4
And I am successfully e-mailing the file, with this:
mail -s "contents of abc" jdoe@email.com <<EOF
cat abc
EOF
But the e-mail shows up looking like this:
subject: contents of abc
line 1 line 2 line 3 line 4

Ive used this snippet of code on a solaris box thousands of times.
But it isnt working on the new linux box
sed -n '/interface LoopBack0/{N;/ ip address /p;}' *.conf
its driving me nuts !!

I know how to search for a pattern/regular expression in many files that I have in a directory. For example, by doing this:

SYNOPSIS
XML::Stream::Namespace is a helper package to XML::Stream. It provides a clean way of defining Namespaces for XML::Stream to use when
connecting.
DESCRIPTION
This module allows you to set and read elements from an XML::Stream
Namespace.
METHODS
SetNamespace("mynamespace");
SetXMLNS("http://www.mynamespace.com/xmlns");
SetAttributes(attrib1=>"value1",
attrib2=>"value2");
GetNamespace() returns "mynamespace"
GetXMLNS() returns "http://www.mynamespace.com/xmlns"
GetAttributes() returns a hash ( attrib1=>"value1",attrib2=>"value2")
GetStream() returns the following string:
