Hi,
when installing a piece of third part software I get the error "Bad magic number" at one point when it tries to use libraries from the bea tuxedo server. Am I correct that this means that the software is expecting 32bit while I'm on 64bit? Is there a way around it or can it only be solved... (5 Replies)

i have a SCSI hard disk drive i'm installing on it solaris 5 and the workstation is sun sparc, i made an image of this H.D using Norton Ghost 6, so i took off the SCSI H.D from the sun workstation and put it on a Compaq server then i booted the server from the Norton Ghost floppy disk... Hi guys, I have a big problem wiht my old Netra T1 200. I want to install OpenSolaris 2009 but there's a problem, I burned the ISO image on a CD-RW and then I tryied to install it on netra, but the setup won't to start and the error is that in the attached image.

I'll keep it fairly straight forward. I work with a Solaris server and magically today it decided to take a dump on me. Hello all,
I have a hard drive that I can't repair.
The drive is WD15EARS - Filesystem ext4 ( not 100% sure )
It's used in a Synology DS110j NAS.
I try to run fsck -p /dev/sdb on the HD and I get this:

lock_read - General: Asserts a complex lock with read-only access
SYNOPSIS

ARGUMENTS
Specifies a pointer to the complex lock structure, lock. This is the lock structure associated with the resource on which you want to
assert a complex lock with read-only access. The lock structure is an opaque data structure; that is, its associated members are referenced
and manipulated by the operating system and not by the user of the complex lock mechanism.
DESCRIPTION
The lock_read routine asserts a lock with read-only access for the resource associated with the specified lock structure pointer. The
lock_read routine allows multiple kernel threads to access the resource read-only at the same time. When a read lock is asserted, the pro-
tected resource is guaranteed not to change.
To release a previously asserted read lock, call the lock_done routine.
NOTES
You must call lock_init (once only) prior to calling lock_read to initialize the lock structure pointer for the resource. A resource, from
the kernel module's standpoint, is data that more than one kernel thread can manipulate. You can store the resource in global variables and
in data structure members.
