I install the HMC first, and configure it, this way, when you connect your managed system to the network, the HMC will search and connect to the managed system providing its in a 'private' network (for other set ups, read the redbook I provided below). From here on, you can then start partitioning your LPARS. If you are going to have VIO LPARS, create them first.
There is much more to just installing a HMC, and VIOS and LPARS. You definitely need more understanding about the configuration, virutalisation, set up etc.
You could read more about installing, configuring and managing your HMC with this redbook.

I am trying to open a console window through the HMC. When I choose to do this the toolbar at the top left of the HMC screen show 'Open Terminal Window'. However when I click on it I am getting the error -

I thought this would be as easy as running 'lsrsrc IBM.MCP IPAddresses', but when I run that command, the resource is empty. I have running dual VIOS on a P9 systems, and just created a new LPAR profile. My objective is to create LPAR Client VFC adapters, and then DLPAR VFC Server adapters on the VIOS.

install-netsync - reads or sets the Network Preferences information on a Palm Device
SYNOPSIS
install-netsync -p /dev/pilot -e -n <hostname> -i <ip> -m <netmask>
DESCRIPTION
install-netsync allows the user to read or change the Network Preferences stored on the Pilot
OPTIONS
-p --port <port>,
Use device file port to communicate with the Palm handheld device. If this is not specified, will look for the $PILOTPORT environ-
ment variable. If both are not found, will fall back to /dev/pilot.
-h --help
Display help synopsis for install-netsync
-v --version
Display version of install-netsync
-e --enable
Enable the LanSync operation (instead of local HotSync)
-n --name <hostname>,
Sets the hostname of the remote machine you wish to connect to. This is not the hostname of the Palm device itself
-i --ip
Set the IP address of the remote machine you wish to connect to. This is not the IP address of the Palm device itself
-m --mask
Set the netmask of the remote machine you wish to connect to. This is not the netmask address of the Palm device itself
