My two cents with rbattel, those are unread messages, figure out why it is generating it, by logging in as that user and running mail (as mentioned by rbattel).
Also, check your cron, see if you are missing > /dev/null 2>&1 for jobs.
Also check if you have the correct smtp server name in /etc/sendmail.cf file
If it does not then add the server name and restart the sendmail service.

Hi,
First Question: In our company our users have their mailboxes in /var/spool/mail

Hi,
I have some problems w/ the sendmail. I see that messages are queued in the /var/spool/mqueue
and they are never sent to the recipients. This problem just suddenly started without any modifications in the current configuration. I already started and stop the sendmail and it did not help.... (3 Replies)
Hello,
I have a bunch of cron jobs in the crontab. For some reason mail from the cron jobs started going to /var/spool/mqueue instead of being sent.
Does anyone know why mail from cron jobs would go to the queue instead of being sent? (9 Replies)

faxabort
FAXABORT(8C)FAXABORT(8C)NAME
faxabort - tell a HylaFAX server to abort a receive
SYNOPSIS
/usr/sbin/faxabort [ -q dir ] modem
DESCRIPTION
faxabort sends a message to a HylaFAX faxgetty(8C) process servicing modem telling it to abort any active receive operation.
The specified modem can either be the name (typically the last component of the terminal port the modem is attached to), or the full name
of the associated FIFO named pipe file, e.g. ``FIFO.ttym2''.
Note that to abort a send operation the faxrm(1) command must be used.
OPTIONS -q dir Use a spooling area other than /var/spool/fax.
NOTES
On some systems it is not possible to abort a received facsimile because of problems in the operating system; on such systems the message
sent by faxabort will be (silently) ignored.
FILES
/var/spool/fax default spooling area
/var/spool/fax/FIFO fifo for contacting faxq
Consult hylafax-server(5F) for a complete discussion of the structure and content of the spooling area.
