I am new to AWK and unix scripting. Please see below my problem and let me know if anyone you can help.

Hi all.
I have the following command that is successfully searching for any one of the strings on all lines of a file and replacing it with the instructed value.
cat inputFile | awk '{gsub(/aaa|bbb|ccc|ddd/,"1234")}1' > outputFile
This does in fact replace any occurrence of aaa, bbb,... (2 Replies)

Hi All,
I need help for doing the following.
I have a input file like:
aaaaaaaaaabbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb
cccbbbbbaaaaaadddddaaaabbbbbbb
now I am trying to generate a output csv file where i will have for e.g.

I have a environment property file which contains:
Input file:
value1 = url1
value2 = url2
value3 = url3 and so on.
I need to search all *.xml files under directory for value1 and replace it with url1.

I am looking for a shell script to merge input files into one file .. here is my idea:
1st paramter would be outfile file (all input files content)
read all input files and merge them to input param 1

I want to replace the third and fourth lines of a 2nd file by the first two lines of a file.
Input:

The purpose is to check if values for column 3 and 4 in file1 match with column 1 in file2.
If any value match do:
1) Replace values in file2 for column 2 and 3 using the information of file1 columns 5 and 6

paps - UTF-8 to PostScript converter using Pango SYNOPSIS
paps [options] files... DESCRIPTION
paps reads a UTF-8 encoded file and generates a PostScript language rendering of the file. The rendering is done by creating outline curves through the pango ft2 backend. OPTIONS
These programs follow the usual GNU command line syntax, with long options starting with two dashes (`-'). A summary of options is included below. --landscape Landscape output. Default is portrait. --columns=cl Number of columns output. Default is 1. --font=desc Set the font description. Default is Monospace 12. --rtl Do rtl layout. --paper ps Choose paper size. Known paper sizes are legal, letter, a4. Default is A4. --bottom-margin=bm Set bottom margin in postscript points (1/72 inch). Default is 36. --top-margin=tm Set top margin. Default is 36. --left-margin=lm Set left margin. Default is 36. --right-margin=rm Set right margin. Default is 36. --help Show summary of options. --header Draw page header for each page. --markup Interpret the text as pango markup. --encoding=ENCODING Assume the documentation encoding is ENCODING. --lpi Set the lines per inch. This determines the line spacing. --cpi Set the characters per inch. This is an alternative method of specifying the font size. --stretch-chars Indicates that characters should be stretched in the y-direction to fill up their vertical space.
