Earlier I already had installed AIX 7.1 on the hardware and it was working and still is working fine. But new installs fail now. I did do the installs through NIM earlier as well but with a lower 7.1 TL and SP level.
Its is just gut feeling, but maybe you need to update some microcodes to support new OS versions?
Do installs of the old TLs/SPs still work or do they produce the problem too?

For example I have vios v2.1 DVD and current vios version is v2.2.1.3(we update to fixpack v2.2.1.1_FP25 and apply service pack 2.2.1.3-FP25-SP01)
