Hi all,
I would want to spool file for a database query, however by using crontab, the file is not spooled. Below shows my script:
ORACLE_HOME="/u01/oraprod/perpdb/10.1.0/db_1"
OUTFILE="/tmp/invalid.out"
FILE="$HOME/admin/scripts"
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus -s "/as sysdba"... (0 Replies)
Is there anyway to spool my select statement into spool files of max 10000 records each?
eg I have a select statement that will return 45000 records.
A normal spool command will output the 45000 into just one spool file.
How can I make sqlplus do this?

for diskname in $(lspv |awk '{print $1}')
do
lquerypv -h /dev/|awk '/'$diskname'/ { print ; exit }'
done
No output is returning from the loop.
I think awk put an extra space to the command - lquerypv -h /dev/
so that the command is executed as i.e. lquerypv -h /dev/ hdisk230 with a space... (7 Replies)
I have used m4 in the past to generate source code where aesthetics and space were of no consequence . Now I am using it to generate script and program templates .
So here is an excerpt from my m4 file for producing a generic bash script:

define(`START_SCRIPT',`#!/bin/bash... (8 Replies)
Hi,
Since today, with csh or tcsh, if I do 'ls files* > list',
every lines end with an extra space!
What happenned?
What can I do to go back when there was no extra space?
If I change to bash, there's no extra space.
Thanks,
Patrick

nfdump
NFDUMP(8) System Manager's Manual NFDUMP(8)NAME
nfdump, nfload - notesfile dump/load programs
SYNOPSIS
nfdump notesfile
nfload [ -Ddirectory ] notesfile
DESCRIPTION
Nfdump and nfload are used to convert notesfile data base formats.
Nfdump converts the specified notesfile to a portable ASCII format and writes it to standard output. Some diagnostics are produced on
stderr. Nfdump can be run by any user; access to a particular notesfile is governed by that notesfile's access list.
Nfload is used on the output from nfdump to create a new notesfile. The -D option specifies an alternate base directory for the notesfile.
If unspecified, this defaults to ``/usr/spool/notes''. Nfload reads standard input for the ASCII representation of the notesfile.
Typical use of these two programs occurs when converting an existing notesfile data base to a new format. The nfdump program should be
compiled with the older structure definitions while nfload is compiled with the newer structures. The data base can then be converted with
a shell script of the following nature:
mkdir .OLD
mv * .OLD
for i in `ls .OLD`
do
echo $i start
nfdump $i | nfload -D/usr/spool/newnotes $i
done
echo $i done
echo ALL DONE
rm -rf .OLD
This assumes that the old data base is in ``/usr/spool/notes'' and the new data base is to be placed in ``/usr/spool/newnotes''. After the
conversion is complete, one can move the old data base from ``/usr/spool/notes'' to ``/usr/spool/oldformat'' and the new data base from
``/usr/spool/newnotes'' to ``/usr/spool/notes''.
