if the script is not executable, what exactly is the purpose of the script?
If you cannot modify a 'remote_script.sh', I don't think there's much you can do....

I am trying to execute the below shell script: script name(ss1).
ss1 was given permission - 744 before executing.
name: ss1
#ss1
#usage:ss1
ls
who
pwd
:wq
I tried to execute $ss1 (Enter)
Its not executing.... It says that ss1 is not found:

Unmatched '.
However on <machine> awk '{ split ($1,ar,"!");print ar}' samp >samp1
executes successfully.

wicd-wired-settings.conf - controls Wicd's wired network settings
DESCRIPTION
This file contains configuration information for wired interfaces in Wicd.
This file is located at /etc/wicd/wired-settings.conf
SETTINGS
default = <0|1>
This option decides whether to use this profile as the default. 0 = do not use this profile as default.
1 = use this profile as default.

This defines a script to run before Wicd brings up the connection. The script should be a Bourne-compatible script and should be
