Operating Systems Solaris Network Printing issue Post 302889647 by Sunil Koya on Saturday 22nd of February 2014 03:45:31 PM

Dan,

it's Solaris 10 or 5.10 as below:

# uname -a
SunOS ****** 5.10 Generic_118833-36 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-T200

++There no CUPS defined in solaris server as below:

# ls -ltr cups
cups: No such file or directory
# pwd
/etc/init.d

++I am using traditional Solaris Print Manager to hook the network printer MNF20 which is defined in Print server running on Linux that has CUPS 1.3.7 installed.

++When I add printer in Solaris print manager, I go to Printer-->Add access to a printer

There I define :

a)Printer name
b)Print server
c)decription

++I don't get an option to disable banner or edit PCI,LCI settings when I define one as above. Please see below:

# lpstat -p MNF20 -l
printer MNF20 is idle. enabled since Feb 22 14:42 2014. available.
Remote Name: MNF20
Remote Server: ***********

++Also When I add printer through "Add access to a printer" I cannot see a configuration file for MNF20 been defined. Not sure where to check it.

Regards,
Sunil.

Germany,

I have done as you suggested. Still I could't see the banner update has been reflected.

# lpadmin -p MNF20 -o banner=never
# lpstat -p MNF20 -l
printer MNF20 is idle. enabled since Feb 22 14:44 2014. available.
Remote Name: MNF20
Remote Server: **********

Regards,
Sunil.
