Sort based on numbers
I have a file which has the following data :-
Quote:
1 data1
147 data2
2003 data3
81 data4
90 data5
24 data6
how can I sort the data in descending order .
Quote:
2003 data3
147 data2
90 data5
81 data4
24 data6
1 data1
My files may have the first column with 1 to 10000 numbers .I need to arrange them in descending order .

Hello,
okey so my script is using 4 variables that are either empty or numbers in the following format:
NUMBER_1 NUMBER_2 NUMBER_3 NUMBER_4
So they're basically separated by a space and I need to echo the lowest number, so far I've been doing it like this:

cat filename | sort
but then 9 would become higher than 14.

I want to sort my data first by the 2nd field then by the first field.
I can't use sort -V because I don't have gnu sort and cannot install one.
How do I go about this?

type The event type. MonitorNotify events are type AuEventTypeMonitorNotify.
serial The serial ID of the event expanded from the 16 bit value sent by the server.
send_event
AuTrue if the event came from a SendEvent protocol request.
server The connection to the audio server that the event was read from.
time The server time in milliseconds when the event was generated.
flow Specifies the ID of the flow that caused the event.
element_num
The index of the ExportMonitor element that gnerated this event.
format The format of the monitor data. Currently, the following formats are defined: AuFormatULAW8, AuFormatLinearUnsigned8, AuFormat-
