Thanks so much, it seems clear now. I got another question about header files. Say i got checkr.h with:
and the function in checkr.c:
From what you say i think i would need to use "extern" in checkr.h ? Can i also use it in the main file (called server.c) ? I know that i don't have to, but it helps me a bit to keep track of the functions without opening and closing files all the time (or using :vsplit). I think it has to do with definition and declaration? I read about it quite often, but never really understand it and usually forget it soon.
Hi,
Please let me know if the extern keyword is necessary for using functions which is defined and declared in another file and and used in a different file where both these files are linked together.

Hi there, I'm having a bit of a strange problem which I would appreciate some help with.
The Problem:
I have two external hard drives, but I'm borrowing one off my parents to copy data too (one of mine, which is identical to theirs - WD MyBook 300g - is on its way out).

Friends,
I need help with the following in UNIX.
Merge all csv files in one folder considering only 1 header row and ignoring header of all other files.
FYI - All files are in same format and contains same headers.
Thank you (4 Replies)
I saw a header (.h) file with mixture of "regular" function declarations and other extern function declarations. As I was told all function declarations are implicitly external and the extern on functions declarations is superfluous. Here my focus is on function declaration, not variable yet.

I've been struggling with this one for quite a while and cannot seem to find a solution for this find/replace scenario. Perhaps I'm getting rusty.

locale::codes::langvar
Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm) Perl Programmers Reference Guide Locale::Codes::LangVar(3pm)NAME
Locale::Codes::LangVar - standard codes for language variation identification
SYNOPSIS
use Locale::Codes::LangVar;
$lvar = code2langvar('acm'); # $lvar gets 'Mesopotamian Arabic'
$code = langvar2code('Mesopotamian Arabic'); # $code gets 'acm'
@codes = all_langvar_codes();
@names = all_langvar_names();
DESCRIPTION
The "Locale::Codes::LangVar" module provides access to standard codes used for identifying language variations, such as those as defined in
the IANA language registry.
Most of the routines take an optional additional argument which specifies the code set to use. If not specified, the default IANA language
registry codes will be used.
SUPPORTED CODE SETS
There are several different code sets you can use for identifying language variations. A code set may be specified using either a name, or
a constant that is automatically exported by this module.
For example, the two are equivalent:
$lvar = code2langvar('en','alpha-2');
$lvar = code2langvar('en',LOCALE_CODE_ALPHA_2);
The codesets currently supported are:
alpha
This is the set of alphanumeric codes from the IANA language registry, such as 'arevela' for Eastern Armenian.
This code set is identified with the symbol "LOCALE_LANGVAR_ALPHA".
This is the default code set.

Locale::Codes::LangVar::add_langvar_code_alias ( CODE ,NEW_CODE [,CODESET] )

These routines are all documented in the Locale::Codes::API man page.
