.muttrc configuration for smtp

Hi, I need to configure .muttrc for an internal smtp server.
Scenario is that i want to send an email to an external email address (i.e. hotmail or gmail etc) with mutt from solaris sparc server. the server has connectivity to an internal smtp server but i am enable to configure .muttrc file. kindly help in this regard.
