I am a bit lost on this...can some one assist. I know this can be down with awk or sed, but i cant get the exact syntax right.
I need to only extract the numbers from a signle word ( eg abcd.123.xyz )
How can i extract 123 only ?

I am new to sed and am trying to extract a word using sed.
for example i have a line "const TotalAmount& getTotalAmount() const; " in the file test.txt
I am trying to extract getTotalAmount() from the line.
For this i tried
cat test.txt | sed -n 's/.*get*\(\)//p

Igawk is a simple shell script that adds the ability to have ``include files'' to gawk(1).
AWK programs for igawk are the same as for gawk, except that, in addition, you may have lines like
@include getopt.awk
in your program to include the file getopt.awk from either the current directory or one of the other directories in the search path.
