First of all I don't even expect that code you posted to work because I see few syntax errors.
I would suggest you to post few lines from your input files and desired output in
code tags.

Hi
I have a variable which is a path ie:
UBERROR=/cobwrk/mchr/prodsup/ub/wrk/../error
is there anyway I can get the output of an echo to read:
#echo $UBERROR
/cobwrk/mchr/prodsup/ub/error
instead of
#echo $UBERROR
/cobwrk/mchr/prodsup/ub/wrk/../error
Many thanks! (2 Replies)
