I read that post, so the idea is to have Live DVD, partition the USB and make Live USB in the 1GB temp partition, then boot from Live USB and make actual instal and target the unused (2nd) partition of that USB drive. I hope there is no misunderstanding here on my part.
A quick question - what would be the reason for build Live USB step? Could I just boot from Live DVD and do actual install targeting my USB?
Just a note to myself and anybody who will follow - disconnect HDD that should not be used, so not to wipe your good disk by mistake.

I would probably set all my rubber points here to get some real help for creating a boot device on a usb-stick. There is no CD-drive on this machine, thats why I need to use a usb-stick. And scrumming in a CD-drive to fuddle around in the fstab or something like that is out of reach.

NAME
usbconfig -- configure the USB subsystem
SYNOPSIS
usbconfig [-u unit] [-a addr] [cmds...]
usbconfig [-d [ugen]<unit>.<addr>] [cmds...]
DESCRIPTION
The usbconfig utility is used to configure and dump information about the USB subsystem.
The options are as follows:
-u unit Limit device range to USB devices connected to the given USBUS unit.
-a addr Limit device range to the given USB device index. Should only be used in conjunction with the unit argument.
-d [ugen]<unit>.<addr>
Limit device range to USB devices connected to the given unit and address. The unit and address coordinates may be prefixed by the
lowercased word "ugen".
-h Show help and available commands.
When called without options, usbconfig prints a list of all available USB devices.
EXAMPLES
Show information about the device on USB bus 1 at address 2:
usbconfig -u 1 -a 2 dump_info
Dump HID descriptor for device on USB bus 1 at address 2:
