Hi,

This error corresponds to the following line of you inittab file

# Run xdm in runlevel 5
x:5:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon
Reboot into run level 3

1] check what your display manager is via the file /etc/X11/prefdm

2] run the command redhat-config-xfree86
