Character count in UNIX!
Hi,
I am Beginner in writing shell scripting. I have tried to get the character count using wc command. But it is not giving the correct result.
Could any one please tell me the reason?

Code:
[norkadm /opt/norkom/rbs/scheduler/tmp]$ cat k.ksh
Shell scripting

The character count should be 15 but it is displaying as 16 when i use wc.
Code:
[norkadm /opt/norkom/rbs/scheduler/tmp]$ wc -c k.ksh
      16 k.ksh

NAME

       suspend - shell built-in function to halt the current shell

SYNOPSIS

   sh
       suspend

   csh
       suspend

   ksh
       suspend

DESCRIPTION

   sh
       Stops the execution of the current shell (but not if it is the login shell).

   csh
       Stop the shell in its tracks, much as if it had been sent a stop signal with ^Z. This is most often used to stop shells started by su.

   ksh
       Stops the execution of the current shell (but not if it is the login shell).
