Space after the $ gives problem disk1="$ (sed -n '1p' disk)"
This have one back ticks not two comm="$cmd1 $disk1"`

INTRODUCTION
XMLStarlet is a set of command line utilities (tools) which can be used to transform, query, validate, and edit XML documents and files us-
