Hello i need some help with the usage of sed.
Situation : 2 textfiles, file.in , file.out
In the first textfile which is called file.in are the words for the substitution.
Every word is in a new-line like :

I have thousands of lines in a file with following format
DATA=_ONE_XXX_YYY_CCC_HHHG_
DATA1=_GGG_JJJJ_HHH_UUU_JJJJ_HHHH_LLL_
DATA3=_MMM_GG_NN_QQQQ_FFF_III_
I want to replace _ with . by ignoring the first (=_) and last (_)

I have to modify the 2nd and 3rd octet of the IP address through awk/sed.
For Example:
Given IP is : 10.205.22.254, it should be modified as 10.105.100.254 through awk/sed.

Need a help to replace a word if a pattern is found between the delimiters preferably using SED or AWK.

SYNOPSIS
To compile this driver into the kernel, place the following lines in your kernel configuration file:

Alternatively, to load the driver as a module at boot time, place the following line in loader.conf(5):
umct_load="YES"
DESCRIPTION
The umct driver provides support for USB to RS-232 converters based on the Magic Control Technology USB-232 design. These devices support
most of the standard RS-232 features including baud rates ranging from 300 to 115200 bits per second. However, neither hardware nor software
flow control seems to be supported.
Access to devices under this driver is via the ucom(4) framework and device nodes.
