One of our Linode nodes is located in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey which was close to the path of Hurricane Sandy. The data center teams were on top of things from the beginning and it looks like our node there will not suffer a power outage.
Another thing that impressed me was that fact that, if we had of chosen to do so, we could have (with a few clicks of the mouse) migrated our server from the NJ data center (in the path of the storm) to another part of the US (Dallas, Atlanta or Fremont California) before the storm. Fortunately, we did not need to do this.
If you do end up trying Linode, please use our referral code below . This small referral fee helps support the forums. Or simply click on our links (with referral code inside) and go for it.
If you have any questions just ask, as we now have over two years experience with Linode and are quite pleased with them.

I'm currently on a shared server, with a fairly-well-known hosting provider, which has gotten progressively worse over the years, and it's time to switch to someone else.
