Can someone help create a symbolic link where I append my own string to the name of the link? Here's the code that I have so far:
So that command works to create my symbolic link but I would like to append my own text to the link name because I could have the same file name in each folder and in the destination I need to find a way to give unique name to the symbolic link. So I was thinking of creating the sym links to look like this:
I'm thinking the script would look something like this:
question abt symbolic link ...
i'm doing the following ...
ln -s x.sh ./scripts/y.sh
and
cat ./scripts/y.sh
it is giving following error
cat: cannot open y.sh
Any reason u an think of ?
But it is working fine when i goto scripts directory and cretae the symbolic link.

Any idea how to create a symbolic link...for example i want to create a symbolink link for a specific user in his profile to use the df command...?

i had create wrong symbolic link on my server use this ln -s /opt/EBS /export/home/EBS, cause i had create an EBS directory on /export/home/EBS/ so the command ln create EBS directory on /export/home/EBS/EBS/....
how to remove the EBS that had created by ln command ?

unix2dos [options] [-c convmode] [-o file ...] [-n infile outfile ...]
Options:
[-hkqV] [--help] [--keepdate] [--quiet] [--version]
DESCRIPTION
This manual page documents unix2dos, the program that converts text files in UNIX format to DOS format.
OPTIONS
The following options are available:
-h --help
Print online help.
-k --keepdate
Keep the date stamp of output file same as input file.
-q --quiet
Quiet mode. Suppress all warning and messages.
-V --version
Prints version information.
-c --convmode convmode
Sets conversion mode. Simulates unix2dos under SunOS.
-o --oldfile file ...
Old file mode. Convert the file and write output to it. The program default to run in this mode. Wildcard names may be used.
-n --newfile infile outfile ...
New file mode. Convert the infile and write output to outfile. File names must be given in pairs and wildcard names should NOT be
used or you WILL lost your files.
EXAMPLES
Get input from stdin and write output to stdout.

Convert and replace a.txt. Convert and replace b.txt.

unix2dos -o a.txt b.txt
Convert and replace a.txt in ASCII conversion mode. Convert and replace b.txt in ISO conversion mode.

Convert and replace a.txt while keeping original date stamp.

Convert a.txt and write to e.txt.

Convert a.txt and write to e.txt, keep date stamp of e.txt same as a.txt.
unix2dos -k -n a.txt e.txt
Convert and replace a.txt. Convert b.txt and write to e.txt.

Convert c.txt and write to e.txt. Convert and replace a.txt. Convert and replace b.txt. Convert d.txt and write to f.txt.

DIAGNOSTICS BUGS
The program does not work properly under MSDOS in stdio processing mode. If you know why is that so, please tell me.
