I have tried awk as well... my problem is now with the last word but number of words per line varies
if we look like that, I want to delete the first and last column but dont know the number of columns
sorry correct myself, each line has different number of columns for there is no fixed one
it should work with NF then
Code:
FILES="no-first/*"
for X in $FILES
do
name=$(basename $X)
awk '{ $NF=""}1' $X > no-first-last/${name}
done
now only needs combining

SYNOPSIS
shtool table [-F|--field-sep sep] [-w|--width width] [-c|--columns cols] [-s|--strip strip] strsepstr...
DESCRIPTION
This pretty-prints a list of strings as a table.
OPTIONS
The following command line options are available.
-F, --field-sep sep
Separate columns using sep. Default is ":".
-w, --width width
Width of each column. Default is 15 characters.
-c, --columns cols
Number of columns. Default is 3.
-s, --strip strip
Strip off any characters past strip. Default is 79.
EXAMPLE
