IBM redbooks is a great resource. Also take a practice test at ibm.com/certify. This will show you where you need to focus your studies on. As for the value -- that is subjective but I am sure the HR/Management types will like it. IMO the basic operations would not be worth much but a stepping stone to getting the admin certifications. Real world experience is worth way more than any AIX certification.

This is the password aging script for aix just completed. So far tested and still testing on one of our aix server running 5.3.0.0.
