What is being backup using Flash Archive on Solaris 10 x86?

SmilieHi Solaris Specialists,

I need to carry out a disaster recovery backup using Solaris 10 x86 Flash Archive (flarcreate - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18752_01/html/821-1912/flashoverview-2.html) on a critical productin server where maintenance downtime is reduced to a minimal. Only 2 filesystems exists on 2 mirrored 350GB disks which is made up of root “/” (< 5.0GB) while the application including MySQL data is located in /export/home (>100GB). As a result, I would appreciate your input on exactly what is being backed up using flarcreate and how long will it take?

Past fssnap & ufsdump full backup of /export/home (applications & DB down) took around 4 hrs to remote server via NFS. I am hoping that it would only backup system configuration files in root “/” filesystem leaving /export/home for commercial backup application such as Symmantec Netbackup, even though it is still not clear what is the integrity of MySQL database being backup while in active production mode.

I would like to change the hostname & IP address (/etc/inet/hosts & /etc/inet/ipnodes) of the source archive (/FLAR_recovery/newsystem_recovery.flar - pg 65) prior to installing it on to the cloned Solaris 10 x86 target system.

Many thanks in advance,

George
