[Solved] Capture network disconnect or hung case

How to detect it depends on what you've done. How are these processes created? Do users launch them from an ssh session? etc.
If they're launched from inside an SSH session, I'd expect them to be killed with SIGHUP when the session closes. If you've blocked that, that may be the reason they don't die.

Our network administrators implemented some sort of check to kill idle sessions and now burden is on us to run some sort of keep alive. Client based keep alive doesn't do a very good job. I have same issue with ssh. Does solution 2 provided above apply for ssh sessions also? (1 Reply)

I think I read that by entering "disconnect <script_name>" somewhere in pppd, that when ppp connection is lost that the named script will be executed. SSL_set_session() sets session to be used when the TLS/SSL connection is to be established. SSL_set_session() is only useful for TLS/SSL clients. When the session is set, the reference count of session is incremented by 1. If the session is not reused, the reference count is decremented again during SSL_connect(). Whether the session was reused can be queried with the SSL_session_reused(3) call. If there is already a session set inside ssl (because it was set with SSL_set_session() before or because the same ssl was already used for a connection), SSL_SESSION_free() will be called for that session. SSL_SESSION objects keep internal link information about the session cache list, when being inserted into one SSL_CTX object's session cache.
