Probably not. You have to create complex external scripts, IMO. As you seem to have learned, patching is more political than practical some places.

Generally, most of the Sun/oracle sites (educational) I know use pkgadd for oneoffs, and PCA as the primary tool.
We have a lot of M4000's and our mgt forbad patching. We're commercial, all of our boxes are essentially clones and have recently been forced to override mgt. So we just looked at PCA and are trying to get it.

Patch Check Advanced

Try that in lieu of Puppet. You need to look at terms of use for PCA - the only drawback.

Hello to all, I have a quick question. I am learning Solaris, with Solaris 10 x86, and one of the chapters in the manual is about patching. I was installing Solaris-10 Recommended patch Cluster and it came out without installling all patches. NAME

       install-solaris - install the Solaris operating system

SYNOPSIS

       install-solaris

       install-solaris	invokes  the  Solaris  Install	program. Depending on graphical capability and available memory at the time of invocation,
       install-solaris invokes either a text-based installer or a graphical installer.

       The following minimum requirements for physical memory dictate which features are available during installation:

       For SPARC machines:

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       128 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for windowing system

       384 MB

	   Minimum physical memory required for graphical-based installation

       For x86 machines:

       256 MB

	   Minimum physical memory for all installation types

       256 MB
