the first code you posted didn't work, but your second i just added

and it worked. they way we're supposed to do the assignment is we have two sessions of putty up on the same server. on one it has a question that we have to provide code to answer. on the other, we try out code to answer the question. so the script is

How can the head command be used to extract only a particular line.
By default head -n filename displays the first n lines. I want only the nth line.
I couldn't get it from forum search.

The appletviewer tool loads and runs an applet.
Use the first form to test applets specified by tag. The URL should resolve to an HTML document from which the appletviewer will extract
applet tags. The APPLET, EMBED and OBJECT tags are supported. If a given document contains multiple applet tags, all the applets will be
loaded, with each applet appearing in its own window. Likewise, when multiple URLs are specified, each applet tag instance is given its
own window. If a given document contains no recognized tags the appletviewer does nothing.
